Arise, my Love: Reading the Song of Songs

Tuesdays during the University Term
Location: Old Library / Hybrid with Zoom link
12.45pm - 1.30pm

The Song of Songs contains some of the most sublime and sensuous poetry in all of the Bible, but rarely features in the church’s liturgical or spiritual reading of the Bible outside of the occasional reading at a wedding. And yet this text has been crucial for a number of spiritual giants in the history of the Church, proving fertile ground for meditation on the relationship between God and the human soul, and on the mutual desire between the two. This term, join us as we examine this stunning text, aided by the Homilies of Gregory of Nyssa, the Fourth Century theologian and spiritual writer.
