Weekday Services
Everyone is welcome at our weekday services.
9.00 am Morning Prayer
Morning Prayer is a service of prayer and praise to begin the day. Using the Church of England’s pattern of Daily Prayer, the service takes place in the Chancel at 9.00 am each weekday morning (Monday-Friday). This simple, said service, consists of psalms and readings from scripture. It lasts for approximately 20 minutes and participants often gather for a coffee or breakfast in the cafe afterwards. Everyone is welcome and entry is through the High Street doors.
12.15 pm Holy Eucharist
Holy Communion (also known as the Eucharist, the Lord's Supper or the Mass) is celebrated at 12.15pm every weekday (Monday - Friday) in the Chancel. Providing a space for reflection in the midst of a busy week, these quiet, spoken services are usually held at 12.15pm every weekday (Monday – Friday) in the Chancel. We gather as the people of God, we respond to God's Word in the scriptures, we give thanks over bread and wine, responding to Christ's invitation to his disciples on the night he was betrayed, 'Do this in remembrance of me', and we are sent out to serve the world. The service lasts for approximately half an hour. Everyone is welcome, and a particularly warm welcome is offered to visitors, tourists and pilgrims visiting Oxford.
Evening Prayer
The College Chapels of the University of Oxford offer many opportunities for people to attend Choral Evensong or Evening Prayer. It is important for the University Church to support the ministry of the College Chapels and we value our relationship with them. Outside term, we occasionally host visiting choirs at the University Church for Choral Evensong.
A full list of services across the colleges can be found here.
