Sunday Services

8:30 Holy Eucharist

The Eucharist is celebrated in the beautiful Chancel in a quiet and reflective act of worship. The Order of Service draws on the Church of England's Common Worship. Everything is printed in a single booklet. The service lasts for approximately half an hour.

10:30 Sung Eucharist

The community which gathers on Sunday mornings includes people who come from the wider city, members of the University of Oxford and Oxford Brookes University, and visitors from all over the world. The Order of Service is very accessible and draws on the Church of England’s Common Worship. Everything is printed in a single booklet. As a community, we value thoughtful and challenging preaching, and our worship is enhanced by the beautiful choral music from the University Church Choir in term time. We have a chance to get to know each other over refreshments after the service. Conversations often continue over lunch at a nearby bar or at one of our parish lunches in the Old Library.

10:30 Children’s Church

Children and young people are warmly invited to attend the 10.30am services. Each week there is a crêche space available for parents to use with their children, in the Newman Room at the back of the Church, with easy access to toilet and baby changing facilities. Parents are welcome to use this space throughout the service, or as a respite space if a child gets restless.

On the first Sunday of each month, Children's Church runs alongside the main service. The children sit with their parents in church for beginning of the Sung Eucharist and during the singing of the Gloria or Kyrie, the Sunday School leaders gather with children and parents in the Newman Room at the back of Church. Each session begins with a simple liturgy, after which we discuss a theme, and often make something to take home, before rejoining the main service in time for Communion. Children's Church is aimed at children aged between 3 and 8.

15:30 Choral Evensong

Our pattern of evening worship incorporates Choral Evensong from the Book of Common Prayer. On the first Sunday of the month, the German Lutheran community in Oxford joins together at this time for worship in the Chancel.

Please check the calendar for further details about these services.
