What's On

Noughth Week

by the Revd Dr William Lamb, the Vicar

A new academic year is about to begin as freshers at both the University of Oxford and Oxford Brookes University descend on the city. This is one of the most wonderful times of year. There is a sense of newness, of new people, new beginnings, new opportunities. We look forward to welcoming people to St Mary’s, both newcomers and those returning, in some cases after an extended period of absence.

One of the things that is new is the ‘What’s On’ guide. This replaces our term card and will be published quarterly: at the beginning of Michaelmas Term (including Advent and Christmas); at the beginning of Hilary Term (including Lent and Easter); at the beginning of Trinity Term; and at the beginning of the Long Vacation. This reflects not only the fact that there are activities and events throughout the year at the University Church, but also pays due regard to the fact that many graduate students are with us throughout the year. You will see in the guide that there are articles about forthcoming exhibitions, details about social events, information about our learning programme, concert listings as well as details about services. It is a sign of the vibrancy of St Mary’s that there is so much going on. We look forward to seeing you soon.
