Facing the Truth: Abuse, Healing and Rebuilding Trust in the Church

Abuse and institutional failings have caused profound harm to survivors and damaged trust in the Church. How can churches become safer, more compassionate communities? What do justice, accountability and healing look like in practice?

We invite you to join our panel of speakers with lived experience of church-related abuse and expertise in supporting survivors as they explore these important questions. Speakers include the Revd Dr Beth Keith, Prof Helen King and Andrew Graystone, with support from the Oxford Survivor Group.

This thought-provoking evening will consider how churches can face difficult truths, support survivors’ recovery, and begin the long process of rebuilding trust and integrity.

The event will start at 6pm on Wednesday 21 October with a drinks reception, followed by the talk and a Q&A. Doors will open at 5.30pm, via the Radcliffe Square entrance to University Church, Oxford.
