Carols by Candlelight
Each year hundreds of people attend Carol Services at the University Church, culminating in the Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols on the evening of the Fourth Sunday of Advent. This year, numbers will have to be limited and to ensure that as many people as possible have the opportunity to attend a Carol Service, we will be offering three almost identical services on successive Sundays of Advent. We will celebrate the Christmas story by candlelight and listen to seasonal music by the wonderful University Church Choir. This service is ticketed and all proceeds go to support the work of the Gatehouse, a drop-in centre for the homeless in Oxford. We hope that you will come and join us and support this worthy cause.
"At the Gatehouse we have been supporting Oxford’s homeless and vulnerably-housed community for over 30 years, offering a range of free services at our drop-in centre in Woodstock Road, Oxford. The pandemic unfortunately put a stop to activities within our centre, but we have continued providing food and other essential items to guests (currently via a takeaway café and a home delivery service), and also expanded support on personal issues through a growing Casework Team and a new Counsellor role.
