Lord, teach us to pray!

By
The Revd Dr William Lamb

On Sunday, we will be starting four lunchtime sessions at 12 noon on the Lord's Prayer. Over these weeks, we will be reflecting not only on what the language of the Lord's Prayer teaches us about the life of prayer, but also the insights it offers us about the nature of God and the life of faith.

This coming Sunday, we will be reflecting on the different images we use of the divine and how those images illuminate our understanding of God. The session will involve some reflection on the use of silence in prayer, and we will spend some time in silent contemplation. It will provoke some questions for us: do we think of prayer as something terribly complicated? Or is it actually quite simple? Is it about our learning to be uncomplicated in the face of the divine mystery?
