A shared sense of the sacred brings people together. Stories can express this common ground as a lived experience of transcendent connection. But what do sacred stories express about the human condition? Can the sacred help build social capital for a better future? How do stories bridge differences in traditions without losing distinctiveness?
This free talk and discussion event at the University Church of St Mary the Virgin, Oxford, will bring together speakers of renown from different traditions. A bookstall will be available for the sale of “Retelling Sacred Stories” (Orbis), the publication that prompts the occasion.
Welcome reception at 5.30pm, with refreshments, the main event to follow at 6pm.
