Tuesday 31 March | 2.30pm – 4.00pm | Western Art Print Room, Ashmolean Museum

The figure of Mary Magdalen has a rich visual history in Western Art partly owing to the conflation of several of the Maries of the Gospels by Pope Gregory the Great and partly due to the account of her life in Jacobus de Voraigne’s The Golden Legend. This workshop will explore the multifarious character of the Magdalen from sinner to penitent, witness to hermit, using prints and drawings in the Ashmolean Western Art Print Room. Led by Canon William Lamb and Katherine Wodehouse, the session will offer an opportunity for reflection on discipleship as we approach Good Friday and Easter Day.
