The Godless Crusade
In this brief talk to mark the publication of The Godless Crusade, Dr Tobias Cremer will talk about religion, populism and right wing identity politics. Drawing on his extensive research in Germany, France and the USA, Tobias will explore the development of attitudes towards Christianity in right-wing populist movements and the way in which these attitudes may be reshaping our politics internationally and nationally. This book challenges widespread assumptions and narratives about how right-wing populism and Christianity relate to one another.
Tobias Cremer holds a PhD from the University of Cambridge, an MPP from the Harvard Kennedy School, where he was a McCloy Fellow. A former Junior Research Fellow at Pembroke College, he now works in the Office of the President of Germany as an advisor on religious affairs.
