Paul Thompson (and his late wife, Barbara) joined the University Church in 1994. Prior to that they worshipped at St. Helen’s in Abingdon where Paul was a Pro-Warden and ran a large youth group. Paul has a keen interest in homelessness in Oxford having been involved with the setting up of The Bridge Project hostel for 16-25 year-olds and The Gap day centre. He is now a Trustee and Shift Leader at Oxford Winter Night Shelter (OWNS).  Paul is also a long-standing member and past president of Abingdon Vesper Rotary Club and a Founder Trustee of Festival Spirit a charity which takes young adults with life-limiting illness or major disability to music festivals.  In his day job, from which he retired long ago, Paul was Head of Information Systems Division at the Science & Engineering Research Council.
