Light and Gold - City of Oxford Choir
A Christmas choral celebration that evokes the golden glow of a yule-log fire and the warmth of home. Enjoy familiar favourites by Byrd and Darke, as well as modern classics by Villette, Tavener and Whitacre. Congregational carols included.
As the nights grow longer and the winter draws in, we celebrate Christmas as the season of light and renewal. We invite you to settle into the warm radiance of familiar favourites by Byrd and Darke, as well as modern classics by Villette, Tavener and Whitacre. And we delight in sharing with you discoveries – nine carols from living composers, many heard for the first time in Oxford. Each song – the vibrant dance, exuberant joy, a quiet expectancy – shines a new light on the meaning of Christmas. Join in the University Church on Saturday, 7 December for a concert redolent of glowing yule-log fires and the warmth of home.
