Reparations Now!
Reparations Now!
Thursday 13 March | Old Library | 5.00pm - 6.00pm
In his book, Britain’s Slavery Debt: Reparations Now!, Professor Michael Banner offers a reasoned and concise discussion of the historical, ethical, and practical issues surrounding reparations. The exploitation of generations of those trafficked from Africa, or born into enslavement, to work the immensely profitable sugar plantations in the Caribbean, enriched both British individuals and the British nation. In this talk, Professor Banner will rehearse the arguments surrounding reparations and the demands of moral repair. Come and join in the discussion.
The Revd Professor Michael Banner is Dean of Chapel and Fellow, Trinity College, Cambridge, and a former Bampton Lecturer.
